The rise of Artificial Intelligence also impact competition law and consumer protection. One issue consumer protection and competition law have in common is the pricing problem. Regarding consumer protection, the sellers could identify the highest price a client is ready to pay, thanks to AI systems. Because this price will vary from one customer to another, this will lead to price discrimination. Of course, this could also have an impact on competition law. The deployment of algorithmic pricing agents could increase the risk of tacit collusion.
How does it works? How could we solve the issues? Could or should we use AI systems to solve those problems? These are the questions this course will attempt to answer.
