Jonas Koponen is a partner of Linklaters LLP, based in the firm’s Brussels office. He has considerable experience of commercial and contentious matters involving EU law, antitrust and merger control law, and the application thereof before EU institutions as well as national authorities and Courts.
Mr. Koponen has advised merging parties involved in numerous complex merger control matters, involving sectors such as basic industries, materials, financial services, telecommunications, medical devices and software. Representative transactions include Telia/Telenor, Johnson & Johnson/Guidant, Deutsche Börse/Euronext, Microsoft/Yahoo! Search Business.
In addition Mr. Koponen defends companies in international cartel investigations, including immunity and leniency applicants and related damages claims. Current assignments include the Power Cables and Credit Default Swaps proceedings before the European Commission.
Mr. Koponen has advised companies in a range of sectors in matters involving allegations of abuse of a dominant position. Representative assignments include advising Telia, Viasat, and representation of Microsoft Corporation in relation to its complaint against Google before the European Commission regarding Internet search and search advertising.
